Because CarAlert manages sensitive legal and financial records, all deletion requests are handled through a secure, verifiable process via email.
Method: Official Email Request
To submit a deletion request, you must send an email with the following details:

Subject Line: URGENT: CarAlert Data Deletion Request – [Your Registered Email]
Body Content:
- Confirmation: State clearly: "I hereby request the permanent closure and deletion of my CarAlert account and associated personal data."
- Verification: Provide the registered email address and the last known vehicle registration number (VRN) associated with the account.
- Date: Include the current date.
Verification and Timeline
- Verification: Upon receiving your email, our team will confirm your identity against our records to prevent fraudulent deletion requests.
- Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation email within 3 business days indicating that your account has been scheduled for deletion.
- Final Deletion: Once verified, your account will be closed, and eligible data will be permanently deleted or fully anonymized within 30 days.
2. Data Deletion and Retention Policy
We comply with the UK GDPR Right to Erasure, but are legally required to retain certain data records for a specific period, as mandated by UK law (HMRC, DVLA, and enforcement statutes).
A. Data That Will Be PERMANENTLY DELETED
- Personal Identifiable Information (PII): Name, Phone Number, Mailing Address, and Profile Information.
- Vehicle Data: Vehicle Make/Model, and any user-uploaded vehicle images or documents not related to an active or retained fine record.
- App Usage Data: Preferences, push notification tokens, and general session logs.
B. Data That Will Be RETAINED (For Legal & Regulatory Compliance)
This data is securely archived and retained solely to meet UK legal and financial compliance obligations. This data is not used for marketing.
